Unbundled Shared IOF Transport

Overview

What It Is

Frontier's Unbundled Shared Interoffice Facility (IOF) Transport provides routing for CLECs by using multiple interoffice transmission paths over non-dedicated facilities. Your calls are routed the same way that Frontier's calls travel from the origination point to the terminating central office. Requests for specific routing or a particular type of transport cannot be honored using this common transport service.

How It Works

This type of transmission is offered between our end offices and tandems. Or, the transport can travel between our central offices and yours. There are no features and options available with this service.

Description

Unbundled IOF transport provides transmission between central offices. There are two types of IOF transport: dedicated and shared. Dedicated IOF transport provides the CLEC exclusive use of the interoffice facility, while shared IOF transport carries transmission from several different carriers including Verizon.

Verizon IOF Policies

Frontier is not required to build facilities or add capacity for the provision of UNE IOF. In order to be responsive to CLEC requests for UNE IOF, the Frontier policy will be as follows:

  1. Frontier will agree to provide UNE IOF in locations where facilities and capacity are available for assignment in the same way that such facilities or capacity would be provided for Retail or Access services.
  2. Upon receiving a complete and accurate ASR, Verizon responds back to the CLEC with a Firm Order Confirmation (FOC) within 72 hours indicating facilities are available and the request will be satisfied in the standard interval or Frontier will provide the CLEC with a due date based on a determination of when electronics or equipment will be ordered and installed to meet a UNE IOF, Retail, or Access services customer request.
  3. Frontier will not construct new IOF routes or install new fiber facilities to meet UNE IOF requests.
  4. Frontier will continue to look for forecasts of IOF requirements from customers. There is no commitment nor should any expectation be set or assumed that provision of a forecast will cause Verizon to build additional specific IOF capacity.
  5. Frontier is not required to provision unbundled IOF outside its own jurisdictions. Unbundled IOF is not available to or from Independent Telephone Company locations.
  6. Unbundled Dedicated IOF Transport is an individual element separate from loops, multiplexing and switching.
  7. Unbundled Dedicated IOF Transport is not available to end user locations.
  8. Unbundled Dedicated IOF Transport is an element of Frontier's network, and requires both ends of the facility be handed off to the CLEC from Frontier equipment.

Availability

Frontier will agree to provide UNE IOF in locations where facilities and capacity are available for assignment in the same way that such facilities or capacity would be provided for Retail or Access services.
